Contract Extended
Builders (VCon Homes) extended our contract by 2 weeks because of 5-day snap Covid lockdown in Victoria: Due to COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Action Delay there will be a 2 week time delay added to your contract – Under the government instruction, the construction industry has been closed until further notice.
Meeting with Directors
Today we had a meeting with 2 directors of the building company and a manager. They told us that the issue with exposed steel reinforcement has been addressed. They agreed to provide a certificate from the engineer confirming that the slab complies with the design. We will pay for the slab stage after that.
Builders asked for slab stage payment
Today builders asked for the slab stage payment. We want them to get a written sign-off from the company that created home design first. We asked to organize a meeting with the business owner.

Construction Started
Today, Wednesday 4 November 2020 is the official commencement date of the build.
Building Permit
We finally received a building permit to construct our new home today. The building surveyor has issued it. It is a private company and not a municipal building surveyor from the local council. Our council is Banyule.
Contract Signed
Today we signed the contract. Exciting!
Old House Demolished
Today the demolishing company finished demolishing our old house. They promised to do it in 1-2 weeks but it took them 1 month. We used Green Demolition and Earthworks.
Electricity Abolished
Today AusNet has finally abolished electricity at our old home. It took them one month to do it.
Deposit Paid
We decided to build with Vcon Homes. Today we paid $800 deposit.
